Thesis finally submitted to committee

Big day = long night (well long two weeks)

I just handed in my thesis to go to committee. I was up til 4am printing the five copies. Gave the printer a good workout. 5x105 pages including 15 pages of high-res images per copy. I'm so happy we switched to a laser printer last year.

I'm pretty happy with the paper. Not 100% polished but I will have two weeks after my defense to finish it. And still almost two weeks til the actual defense. So still a lot of work ahead.

Big hug to Mekki for being my proof reader. We've both had lots of practice editing each other's work for the past five years. No arguments this time about proper use of semi-colons

Another Mayfair Date

Mekki and I went back to the Mayfair again last night. This time we saw Paris, Je T'aime and La Vie en Rose. Even though we went because of Vie en Rose I much preferred Paris JT. I agree with Mekki that it is probably one of the best films I've seen in a very long time. The directing, writing, acting, cinematography, everything was just amazingly well done. And it certainly accommodated my ever shortening attention span for movies. Highly recommended especially to anyone who has ever been to Paris.

Perseid Meteor Shower

Mekki and I went out last night to watch the meteors. We found a park just south of the city to get away from at least some of the light pollution. Set up the blanket, laid back and enjoyed (with the exception of the mosquitoes and dropping temperature). It was pretty cloudy still when we got out but it cleared up pretty fast. Not a very busy shower but we saw a few good ones.

I've always enjoyed going out to watch.

The clog came back

Grrr....

I've spent the morning trying to unclog the bathtub again so I can have a shower. It's been smelly lately and this morning there was junk from the kitchen drain in the tub. And of course... the landlord is on vacation.

I've tried plungering as much as possible but I think the clog is much further down the line. And the plunger has resulted in a pool of icky smelly water pooling into the tub. I don't want to do anything drastic without the landlord's permission and he's out of town for at least the rest of the long weekend I think.

Of course it happens during a heatwave when you feel like you need a shower every hour.

Wild flowers

Went for a walk along the trail across the street to pick some flowers today.

I've posted some pictures I took testing out the Canon Rebel XTi that Alec is letting me play with before I commit to a DSLR.
