'Two for One'... or is it 'One for Two'

I just installed synergy on my machine and laptop. It lets me use the mouse, keyboard and clipboard of my main machine on both computers. I just scroll the mouse off the side on my monitor and it appears on the laptop. (Essentially a virtual KVM switch... yay, no wires or cables)

This isn't procrastination... really. Productivity enhancement.

I can have my notes displayed on the laptop and work on my paper on my desktop and copy paste between the two. There was an article on Slashdot recently that discussed increased productivity from access to multiple screens to organize your work. Someone likened it to having a 3'x6' desk to arrange your papers or having to stack them one on top of the other and constantly shuffling through them. Some of the studies cited further suggested that females specifically benefit from the additional work space.

Mekki's also just set up the second monitor output on his machine to the tv so we can watch downloaded shows etc. while working without fussing with burning DVDs and non-compliant formats. I'll post a photo sometime. It's pretty insane.... but cool.

300 - Yes, I'm a picky movie critic

I finally caught up to the rest of the world and saw 300 (on IMAX) yesterday. I was explicitly told that I could not just let this one wait to watch at home, that it needed the big screen. So I went for the BIG screen.

I went for the graphics and on that account I was relatively satisfied. Some interesting cinematics but they got repetitive and lost their punch after a while. Like most movies, I think it would have done the trick in half the time. But I'm inpatient when it comes to movies. Get on with it.

Throughout the movie I kept thinking, wow Leonidas looks a lot like the Phantom of the Opera but I was too embarrassed to ask without checking first. Just seemed like too unlikely a pair but it is Gerard Butler. I also kept thinking about Belgian chocolate. When I was in Belgium (many years ago) I picked up some Leonidas chocolates that were each wrapped with an image of a spartan. Mmm... chocolate.

I also asked Mekki if the Spartan Apple counts as an add placement. It had that feel of insert can of coke and tag line: "after a tough day on the battle field..." Mekki didn't notice it or at least didn't make the connection. I think it was just a small joke. I was amused.

Without having read the graphic novel first, Mekki confirmed that I picked up on a lot of the inconsistencies and parts that weren't part of the original. The queen's monologue had the feel of movie executives saying: "we can't have a film without a female lead, let's give the queen a monologue."

The American righteous overtones... enough said.

But visuals and sound... worth the $12.50

Slower than molassses (in April)

Wow! It takes a long time to pour half a cup of molasses. Hopefully these muffins are worth it.

A question question

Should I question the assumption that I should question my assumptions?

Thesis is going to drive me mad.

Where did everybody go?

I've figured out why it seems like everyone has abandoned their blog... Facebook.

It doesn't have to be either or.
