75 cent pie

Sadly, City View Loeb will be closing tomorrow but luckily this means that Mekki and I got to enjoy our odd sense of enjoyment of bargain hunting. We got a cart full of groceries for $40, probably worth close to $200. This included:

-$0.75 McCain cream pies
-$0.75 McCain pizzas
-$2.50 Haagendaz ice cream and sorbet bars
-$0.75 microwave dinners
-$0.75 pizza pops
-$1.50 family pack of cinnamon Eggos
-$0.75 orange juice concentrate
-$1.50 broccoli puff pastries

We're cheap but we enjoy it.

Apartment Hunt Continues

I'm getting really annoyed with people not calling me back when I leave a message asking about the apartment they are advertising.

I hate having to do all this by phone. I wish more places posted info and images about their apartments so that I wouldn't have to waste so much time, mine and theirs.

Another Web Design Under the Belt

Ottawa West-Nepean Liberal Candidate, Lee Farnworth, now has a website. http://www.leefarnworth.ca/

The usual IE headaches and so the functionality is not as elegant as I had for Mozilla but I'm very pleased with the design. I think it is crisp, clean, and clear. By far, the three most important qualities when designing a site intended for a wide range of viewers and (because of politics) anything you do can and will be used against you, so I say "keep it simple stupid".

Lee seems very content with the site and was great to work with. It's always great to see someone so enthusiastic about the possibilities of bringing new media into the game. Also in the long-term picture are a blog and public forum. I would say it is a smart way to attract and interact with the younger voters without turning off the older ones.

Enjoying the sunset on a PEI beach

Four Provinces, Three States, 3500km, Seven Days

We made it back from the road trip and have lots of stories to tell and pictures to share.

I got to cross off another province on the must see list leaving Manitoba and Alberta (and the Territories).

I got to see two friends on their special day and share in the fun. No, I did not catch the bouquet (despite the conspiracies) and was teased enough so let's leave it at that.

I got to see a giant tuna being brought into the harbour and get a cut of meat from its head which was soon thereafter fried in beer batter minus a small bite sashimi style. That's what I call fresh.

I got to enjoy a fabulous (though disgustingly oversized) lobster dinner with chowder, mussels, veggies and potatoes washed down with a pint of Guinness.

I got to see the PEI beaches, the New Brunswick caves, the mountainous scenery of the Northern States, the historic centre of Quebec and home again to Ontario.

I got to spend a week enjoying the company of my best friend.
